The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has approved new federal mandatory standards to make bassinets and cradles safer. The modifications address side height, mattress flatness, stability, structural integrity and other requirements for bassinets.
From 2007 to 2013, CPSC received 426 reports of young children being injured while in bassinets and cradles, including 132 deaths.
