The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to CPSC’s searchable online product safety database at www.SaferProducts.gov. Hazard: If two or more magnets are swallowed, they can link together inside a child’s intestines, leading to serious infection or death.

Description: The Nanospheres were sold as an adult novelty item or desk toy. A warning states that the toys should be used only by those ages 14 years and older. Products are a mass of 231 small powerful magnets that are silver, gold or black. Each magnet is about 5 millimeters in diameter. The magnets come in a circular metal canister labeled “Nanospheres.”

Sold at: Amazon.com from November 2010 through December 2011 for $25 to $30.
