The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to CPSC’s searchable online product safety database at www.SaferProducts.gov. Units: About 5,500 Monster High and 5,200 Hello Kitty scooters
Hazard: The scooters can accelerate suddenly, causing the rider to lose control and fall.
Description: Electric, battery-operated City Scooters are purple and black with Monster High graphics or pink and black with Hello Kitty graphics. Hello Kitty model number 8801-03 was manufactured between Sept. 10 and Dec. 3, 2012. Monster High scooters were manufactured between Oct. 5 and Nov. 7, 2012 (model 8801-14). Serial numbers for the recalled scooters have the letters “QYCEI” followed by a six-digit number in the following range: 003125 through 014456 (Monster High) or 000001 through 014456 (Hello Kitty).
Sold exclusively at: Wal-Mart stores and Wal-Mart.com from November 2012 to January 2013 for about $249 for Monster High scooters and Toys R Us stores and Toysrus.com from October 2012 to January 2013 for about $279 for Hello Kitty scooters.
Remedy: Disconnect the battery and return it to the store where purchased for refund or credit.
