The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to CPSC’s searchable online product safety database at www.SaferProducts.gov. Units: About 4,500 kits
Hazard: The shell can blow up in the tube during firing and hit or burn users and bystanders.
Description: Contraband 24 firework kits with canister shells and firing tubes are designed to be used multiple times. The shells are put into each tube and lit. The tubes in some kits may be too narrow to allow the shell to drop to the bottom of the tube when loaded. When fired, the shell can blow a hole in the tube. Each kit contains 24 shells with fuses attached and four fiberglass firing tubes with wooden bases.
Sold at: Pyro City and other fireworks retailers from February to June 2014 for about $80.
Remedy: Return kits to the place of purchase for a refund.
