The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to CPSC’s searchable online product safety database at www.SaferProducts.gov. Hazard: Children can open the zippers on the bean bag chairs, crawl inside and become trapped, or suffocate or choke on the bean bag chair’s foam beads.
Description: Recalled are vinyl polystyrene-filled bean bag chairs with a zipper on the exterior cover. The round, vinyl bean bag chairs came in black, hot pink, lime, purple, royal blue and ruby red with baseball, basketball, football and soccer ball patterns.
Sold at: Burlington Coat Factory, Kroger, Meijer and other retail stores nationwide and online at Amazon, Bean Bags Company, Groupon, Kohl’s, Target, Toys “R” Us, Wal-Mart, Wayfair and other online retailers from January 2010 to October 2013 for $30 to $40.
Remedy: Check to see if the zipper opens. If so, contact Comfort Research for instructions to permanently disable the zipper.
