Units: About 900,000

Hazard: An open quick release lever on the bicycle’s front wheel hub can touch the front disc brake assembly, causing the front wheel to stop suddenly or fall off the bicycle.

Description: Recalled are all models of Trek bicycles from 2000 through 2015 equipped with front disc brakes with a black or silver quick release lever on the front wheel hub that opens far enough to contact the disc brake. Bicycles with front quick release levers that do not open a full 180 degrees from the closed position are not recalled.

Sold at: Bicycle stores nationwide from September 1999 through April 2015 for $480 to $1,650.

Remedy: Contact an authorized Trek retailer for installation of a new quick release on the front wheel. Trek will give a $20 coupon that can be used by Dec. 31 toward any Bontrager merchandise.
