The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to CPSC’s searchable online product safety database at www.SaferProducts.gov. A searchable food and medical product recall database is available at www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/default.htm.
Hazard: The safety gate may not stay in place. People also can trip over the lower metal bar.
Description: The safety gates are white, made of steel and plastic, and measure about 29 inches high with an adjustable width from about 29 inches to 34 inches. The gate has a spring mechanism that fits between the two sides of the door frame to hold the gate in place. A label at the bottom of the safety gate includes the article number. Recalled numbers include 302-265-21, 500-375-67, 501-919-50, 655-517-10, 700-989-65 and 901-136-01.
Sold at: IKEA stores nationwide and at www.ikea-usa.com from August 1995 through February 2015 for about $35.
Remedy: Return the safety gate to any IKEA store for a refund. PATRULL KLÄMMA /SMIDIG safety gate extensions also can be returned for a refund.
