Car seats

Officials at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) say they are concerned that many parents are using hand-me-down infant and child car safety seats that have been recalled since 1981.

The following car seats have either been recalled or modified since 1980:

• More than 1.5 million Fisher-Price car safety seats are being recalled because they do not meet federal government flammability guidelines.

The NHTSA ordered the recall of models 9100 and 9101, manufactured from 1985 to 1989. A foam seat pad on the models tends to burn faster than federal standards permit.
