Playground injuries
Loose clothing, jacket and clothing strings and string necklaces around a child's neck can pose a strangulation hazard.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission(CPSC) reports that it has received reports of deaths when these items became caught on playground equipment, especially swings and slides. Items attached to clothing or placed around the neck such as mittens, scarves, ponchos and jump ropes are hazardous. These clothing strings and loose clothing can catch on protrusions, open-ended hooks, gaps and other parts of playground equipment.
