All school age children are expected to obtain their education in a school setting. This is recommended not only because of current legal mandates but because of the social and developmental advantages the school setting affords healthy children and children with special needs.1,2 Federal and state legislation clearly dictates that the most appropriate setting for education is the school; this setting should be provided in the least restrictive environment possible so that children can achieve their maximum potential.1,2
