FDA issues new meat preparation guidelines

In response to the recent outbreak of food-borne illnesses and deaths resulting from eating undercooked hamburgers, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has changed its recommendations for cooking ground beef.

FDA officials now recommend that all parts of ground beef products should reach at least 155 degrees Fahrenheit when cooked. At this temperature, ground beef will not be pink at the center, and juices will be clear.
