Dec. 12 marks Universal Health Coverage Day, a prime time to make families aware of their rights to health coverage. Universal Health Coverage Day supports the tenet that everyone can access quality health services they need without financial hardship, including the most vulnerable populations. The global event is supported by a resolution that the United Nations has endorsed twice but has not been achieved: for countries to provide affordable, quality health care to every person, everywhere.
Follow the campaign on Twitter and share your thoughts via #HEALTHFORALL. Download a toolkit at http://universalhealthcoverageday.org/starter-toolkit.pdf.
U.S. families can apply for health coverage via the Health Insurance Marketplace through Dec. 15 at https://www.healthcare.gov/get-coverage/. Coverage begins Jan. 1.
