FYI: New Neonatal Resuscitation Program materials :

April 29, 2016

The new Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) edition includes an updated Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation, 7th Edition, which reflects the 2015 Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care of the Neonate from the Academy and the American Heart Association.

The textbook, available at http://bit.ly/1Mo9H6B, includes 11 lessons: Foundations of Neonatal Resuscitation; Preparation for Resuscitation; Initial Steps of Newborn Care; Positive-pressure Ventilation; Alternative Airways: Endotracheal Tubes and Laryngeal Masks; Chest Compressions; Medications; Post-resuscitation Care; Resuscitation and Stabilization of Babies Born Preterm; Special Considerations; and Ethics and Care at the End of Life.

New NRP reference charts, behavioral skills poster and NRP equipment poster also are available.

Those seeking annual site licenses to provide access to the Neonatal Resuscitation eBook collection to an entire organization should access the Neonatal Resuscitation eBook Collection for Institutions, a comprehensive digital library of quality, peer-reviewed pediatric content. Visit http://aapebooks.org or email institutions@aap.org.

NRP’s 7th edition also includes a new database and learning management system that will replace the existing database after Dec. 31 and an online simulation exercise. Changes were made to the online examination, and an NRP Instructor Toolkit is a new requirement for all NRP instructors and instructor candidates. The materials and new database must be in use by Jan. 1.

Learn more about the changes at the NRP Current Issues Seminar Oct. 21 at the AAP National Conference in San Francisco, or read the FAQ about the changes at http://www2.aap.org/nrp/7thedinfo.html.
