Get involved in National Immunization Awareness Month activities :

August 1, 2017

As a new school year approaches and well-child visits ramp up, resources can help practices facilitate communications to make sure patients are up to date on vaccines.

Join National Immunization Awareness Month activities and remind your community that vaccines protect against serious diseases, outbreaks still occur, and vaccines are recommended and safe for all ages.

Find sample key messages, specific vaccine information, news releases, social media messages and handouts on vaccine-preventable diseases at https://www.nphic.org/niam. Display immunization schedules and vaccine quizzes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on your practice website. Details are available at https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules/syndicate.html.

The National Public Health Information Coalition and CDC-backed event will focus on important vaccine messages for all age groups. Weekly themes include babies and young children, pregnant women, adults, and preteens/teens. Be part of the Twitter conversation by following #NIAM17.

The Academy is providing a toolkit for the campaign. Visit the News Room at http://bit.ly/2meLdUs. For details about outbreaks across the country, see the AAP Child Vaccination Across America interactive map, https://immunizations.aap.org/. Find out what is happening at the federal level and across the nation to support programs to ensure vaccine coverage for all children, stem vaccine misinformation and prevent outbreaks on the AAP Voices Blog, https://www.aap.org/en-us/aap-voices/Pages/default.aspx.
