Health Alerts: Bassinets, magic wands, chests, and more recalled :

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to CPSC’s searchable online product safety database atwww.SaferProducts.gov. A searchable food and medical product recall database is available atwww.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/default.htm.

Light-up magic wands

Units: About 58,000

Hazard: The battery cover can detach and expose the button-cell batteries. Children can choke on or swallow the batteries, causing injuries or death.

Description: A fuchsia colored light-up magic wand has a star that flashes and makes noise. Only magic wands with date codes between March 2018 (3/18/373) and June 2019 (6/19/373) are recalled. The date code is printed on the bottom of the wand. UPC code 085761220034 is on the hangtag.

Sold at: Carter’s stores and various toy, grocery, hobby and gift retailers nationwide from June 2018 through October 2019 for about $5.

Remedy: Return wands to store where purchased for a refund.

Five-drawer chests

Units: About 31,000

Hazard: If the chests are not anchored to the wall, they can tip over and fall on children, resulting in injuries or death.

Description: Chadwick and Bailey five-drawer wood chests were sold in white, mission oak, espresso and dove gray colors. “Hillsdale Furniture” is printed on a label on the back of the chest.

Sold at: Bob’s Discount Furniture and other retailers nationwide from August 2010 through August 2019 for about $280.

Remedy: Stop using recalled chests that are not properly anchored to the wall and place them where children cannot access. Contact Bob’s Discount Furniture or Hillsdale Furniture to receive a free repair or refund. Remedy options include a free self-install repair kit, free in-home installation of repair kit or free pick-up of the chest.

Bassinets

Units: About 3,000

Hazard: The bassinet’s support legs can break, and babies can fall out.

Description: Wooden DaVinci Bailey Bassinets for infants were sold in the following four colors with corresponding product numbers: gray (M0934G), espresso (M0934Q), natural (M0934N) and white (M0934W). Model number 0934 is printed on a white label attached to the mattress support board and on the product package. The bassinets were sold with a 1-inch waterproof cradle pad.

Sold: Online at Amazon.com, Buybuybaby.com, Target.com, JCPenney.com and other online retailers from August 2018 through September 2019 for about $110.

Remedy: Stop using the recalled bassinets and contact DaVinci for a free repair kit that includes new support legs. In the meantime, parents are urged to remove the support legs and use the bassinet on a safe space on the floor or find an alternate, safe sleeping environment for the child, such as a crib that meets current safety standards.

Boys’ denim pants

Units: About 900

Hazard: Small stones might be in the pockets or waistband of the pants from the stone washing manufacturing process. Children can choke on or swallow the stones.

Description: Crewcuts boys’ denim pants were sold in sizes 2 and 3. Only pants made in Pakistan are recalled. Style number J8406 and season FA 19 are on a care label sewn into the side seam. A label sewn into the waistband of the garment lists the size, country of origin and “Crewcuts.” UPC codes 099105125419 and 099105125420 are listed on the price tag attached to the pants.

Sold at: J. Crew and Crewcuts stores nationwide and online at jcrew.com from July 2019 through October 2019 for about $50.

Remedy: Remove the stones from pockets or internal waistband opening to eliminate the hazard.
