Health Alerts: Bunk beds, dressers, essential oils, and more recalled :

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to CPSC’s searchable online product safety database atwww.SaferProducts.gov. A searchable food and medical product recall database is available at  www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/default.htm.

Four-drawer dressers

Units: About 1 million

Hazard: The dressers can tip over if not anchored to the wall, causing death or injuries to children.

Description: Recalled are Belmont four-drawer dressers with plastic drawer glides sold in two sizes and four colors. Model numbers and colors include: 5933015k (white), 5933026k (black), 5933080k (light pine), 5933102k (brown oak), 634026kpm (black), 634102kpm (brown oak), 63415kpm (white) and 63480kpm (light pine).

Sold at: Kmart stores nationwide from April 2013 to November 2018 for about $40.

Remedy: Place the unanchored chest where children cannot access it. Contact the company for an anchoring kit and wall anchor strap. A one-time, free in-home installation is available on request.

Essential oils

 

Units: About 32,000

Hazard: The bottles are not child resistant, posing a poisoning risk if young children swallow the contents.

Description: Healing Solutions Wintergreen and Birch 100 percent Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils

Sold online at: eBay.com, Amazon.com and Walmart.com from December 2014 through April 2019 for $10 to $23.

Remedy: Keep away from children and contact Healing Solutions for a child-resistant cap.

Collectible helmets

 

Units: About 20,000

Hazard: Mold can be present on the fabric insert inside the helmet, posing a risk of respiratory or other infections in individuals with compromised immune systems, damaged lungs or an allergy to mold.

Description: Recalled are T-51b Power Armor helmets made of plastic with polyester/cotton blend fabric liner.

Sold online at: GameStop.com in June for about $150.

Remedy: Contact GameStop for a refund and return instructions.

Children’s loungewear

Units: About 14,100

Hazard: The loungewear does not meet rules that require children’s sleepwear to be snug fitting or flame resistant.

Description: Recalled are children’s 100% micro polyester fleece sleepwear sold in sizes 2 through 6 and S through XL. Styles include a footed children’s onesie with hood, pants with waistband drawstring, shorts, a long-sleeved crew top and an infant onesie. Prints include big stars, elephant, ghost glow, happy feet, hello bunny, kitty, love paws, lush dots, moon and stars, owl, panda, pineapple, polar bear, rainbow glow, snowman and winter deer. Production codes are L47/1705, LPJ/1806 and L47/1710.

Sold at: Children’s boutiques nationwide and online at www.ragdollandrockets.com from May 2018 to May 2019 for $16 to $28.

Dodgeball safety goggles

Units: About 10,500

Hazard: The goggles have glass lenses, posing a laceration hazard if shattered.

Description: Recalled are goggles sold with Throw Throw Burrito Extreme Going Pro Edition Dodgeball Card Outdoor Game sets.

Sold exclusively at: Kickstarter.com from February through March for about $85 for the outdoor game set.

Remedy: Cut the goggles down the flexible plastic center and through the elastic strap. Exploding Kittens will replace the goggles with new safety-tested goggles after consumers email their mailing address and photo of the recalled goggles after they cut them.

Three-drawer dressers

Units: About 1,800

Hazard: The dressers can tip over if not anchored to the wall, causing death or injuries to children.

Description: Recalled are INK+IVY Renu three-drawer dressers made from multicolored pine wood.

Sold online at: bedbathandbeyond.com, jcpenney.com, kohls.com, macys.com, olliix.com, overstock.com and wayfair.com from January 2017 through September 2019 for about $350.

Remedy: Place dressers in an area away from children. Contact the company for a wall anchoring kit and one-time free home installation of the kit, a refund or a store credit. Those who select a refund or credit must choose either to have the dresser picked up by the company or they must return the product with a company-provided prepaid shipping label.

Air rifles

Units: About 1,400

Hazard: The air rifle can unexpectedly discharge even if the safety is engaged. This can result in serious injury or death.

Description: Recalled are 0.177- and 0.22-caliber Diana Stormrider Gen 2 air rifles with two-stage adjustable trigger. The pre-charged pneumatic air rifles are powered by a compressed air cylinder. Item numbers include 1900001 and 1900101 with serial numbers 2318220145032949E-2318229955034368E and 2318229955075924I-2318229955076323I.

Sold at: Pyramyd Air, Air Gun Depot and other air rifle retailers nationwide and online at Amazon.com, PyramydAir.com and AirGunDepot.com from July 2018 through June 2019 for about $220.

Knit dolls

Units: About 4,500

Hazard: A sewing needle was found in the stuffing of one of the handmade knit dolls, posing a puncture injury hazard.

Description: Recalled are 22 styles of handmade knit animal dolls from the Beaufort Bonnet Company: Drayton Hall Hare, Ellie Mae the Cat, Frat E. Fox, Giftmore the Mouse, Gull to Bed, Iwant A. Hippopotamus, Imma Bunny, King Charles Wooford, Lady Lullaby, Lily Pad Prince, Lionel the Lion, McDuffie the Duck, Morris Mallard, P. Nutt, Pudge the Pig, Shellebrate, Sill E. Goose, Ted E. Bearington, Waldorf Wabbit, Waverly Wabbit, Woodmont Wabbit and Wooly.

Sold at: Specialty stores nationwide and online at www.thebeaufortbonnetcompany.com from September 2016 through August 2019 for about $40 to $65.

Remedy: Do not use the dolls. Contact the company for a refund in the form of a gift card.

Children’s bunk beds

Units: About 1,200

Hazard: The bunk bed’s support boards can break, putting children at risk of injury or falls.

Description: Walker Edison’s Twin Cottage wooden twin over twin bunk beds have a ladder on the side and were sold in blue (BWTOTCOTBU), brown (BWTOTCOTES), red (BWTOTCOTRD) and white (BWTOTCOTWH).

Sold online at: Overstock.com, Pier1.com, Target.com, WalkerEdison.com, Walmart.com, Wayfair.com and other retailers from July 2018 through April 2019 for about $650.

Remedy: Contact the company for a replacement bunk bed and installation.

Three-drawer chests

 

Units: About 640

Hazard: If the chests are not anchored to the wall, they can fall onto children and cause injury or death.

Description: Recalled are mid-century three-drawer accent chests in brown (model DS-D146-002) or white (model DS-D146-005) finish with six copper-colored drawer pulls.

Sold at: Nebraska Furniture Mart stores in Nebraska, Kansas and Texas, and online at Wayfair.com, Amazon.com, BedBathandBeyond.com and other online retailers from March 2017 through June 2019 for about $250.

Remedy: Place the unanchored chest where children cannot access it. Contact the company for a restraint kit, free one-time in-home installation or prepaid shipping label to mail drawer slides for a refund.
