Health Alerts: Bunk beds, toddler boots, dressers, and more recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to CPSC’s searchable online product safety database at www.SaferProducts.gov. A searchable food and medical product recall database is available atwww.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/default.htm.

 

Bunk beds

Units: About 26,000

Hazard: The welds securing the upper bunk can come apart and cause the upper bunk to collapse.

Description: Recalled are three models of Zinus metal bunk beds. The OPLBB model is a black twin-over-twin bed with square bedposts. The RPBB model is a blue twin-over-twin bed with round bedposts. The NTBB model is a gray twin-over-full bed with round bedposts. The model number is on the guardrail of the upper bunk.

Sold at: Online at amazon.com, walmart.com, wayfair.com, overstock.com, homedepot.com and zinus.com from December 2016 to January 2020 for $90 to $240.

Remedy: Stop using the upper bunk and contact the company for a repair kit or refund.

Toddler boots 

Units: About 122,500

Hazard: The toggle on the boot can fall off, and children can choke on it.

Description: Recalled are Cat & Jack “Himani” and “Jaren” toddler boots in sizes 5T to 12T. The toggle on the elastic lace is used to tighten the boot and keep snow out. Colors include navy, pink, olive, black with multicolored polka dots, pink with multicolored polka dots and navy with rainbows.

Sold at:  Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com and Google Express from September 2019 through February 2020 for about $30.

Remedy: Return the boots to any Target store for a refund. If purchased online, contact Target for a prepaid return label.

Dressers 

Units: About 24,000

Hazard: The drawer chests can tip over onto children if not anchored to the wall.

Description: Recalled are chests of drawers (SKU BR3DMILDRDW, BR3DMILDRSG) and Spencer four-drawer chests (SKU BR4DDRCA, BR4DDRWH, BR4DDRWT) from Walker Edison sold in white, gray, wood stained or covered in a wood imitation laminate.

Sold at: Bestbuy.com, Pier1.com, Amazon.com, Target.com and other online retailers from August 2018 through March 2020 for $200 to $300.

Remedy: Stop using the furniture and contact the company for refund or replacement.

Heated blankets

Units: About 7,050

Hazard: The recalled blankets can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard.

Description: The InvoSpa electric throw heated blankets are made of soft flannel and Sherpa shu velveteen and are white and gray. Printed on the blanket’s tag are model number ML-G03 and InvoSpa.

Sold exclusively at: Amazon.com from November 2019 through July 2020 for about $70.

Remedy: Stop using the blanket, and contact the company for refund information.

Ride-on toy cars 

Units: About 5,150 

Hazard: When connected to the battery after recharging, the ride-on toy car can unexpectedly move, posing an injury risk.

Description: Recalled are Huffy-branded Torex 24-volt ride-on toy utility terrain vehicles (model 17249) sold in black with red trim. Date codes include 16919, 17119, 18019, 19019, 20019, 20219, 20519, 24819, 24919, 25019, 25219, 25319, 25419, 32219, 32319 and 33719. Model and date code are on the left rear wheel well.

Sold exclusively at: Walmart stores nationwide and online at walmart.com from August 2019 through September 2020 for about $500.

Remedy: Stop using the recalled car, and contact Huffy for a replacement controller.

Swim snorkels 

Units: About 3,350

Hazard: The swim snorkels can release excess material from inside the tube or mouthpiece, and users can choke on it.

Description: Recalled are Arena Swim Snorkel Pro II (style 001969) in black, acid lime and pink and Swim Snorkel II (style 001970) in black and acid lime.

Sold at: Xtreme swim stores, Metro swim shops, Swim Suit West stores nationwide and online at Arenasport.com and Amazon.com from February 2018 through May 2020 for $35 to $45.

Remedy: Stop using the snorkels and contact the company for a replacement tube or mouthpiece.

Baby spoons, forks 

Units: About 890

Hazard: The Eco Baby Spoon and Fork and the Eco Feeding Spoon can break into small pieces, which children can choke on.

Description: Recalled are Herobility Eco Baby Spoons and Forks, Eco Feeding Spoons and Eco Placemat Feeding sets.

Sold at: Online at herobility.com and Buy Baby, Dillard’s, The Mama ’Hood, Kidsland, Traveling Tikes, Adolce Baby, Mum and Mini, Earth Baby, Global Enfant, Li’l Baby Sprouts, Mariposa Hill, Macy’s and Babylist stores nationwide from March 2019 through September 2020. The Eco Baby Spoon & Fork sold for about $9. The Eco Feeding Spoon (three-pack) sold for about $10. The four-piece Eco Placemat Feeding set sold for about $50.

Remedy: Stop using the recalled utensils and contact Herobility for return and refund information.

Bicycle helmets

Units: About 660

Hazard: The helmets do not comply with the federal safety standard for bicycle helmets, posing a risk of head injury. 

Description: Recalled are Any Volume adult-sized bicycle helmets. The medium-sized helmets were sold in blue, green, pink, red, white and yellow. They have black nylon fabric straps with white striped patterns in the center and a black plastic knob at the back of the helmet to adjust the fit.

Sold exclusively at: ebay.com from May through October for about $15.

Remedy: Stop using the helmets and contact Any Volume for a refund.
