The recalled teething tablets and ear relief liquids manufactured by Raritan Pharmaceuticals for Homeolab USA contain levels of belladonna that vary from the label, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Belladonna is a plant also known as Deadly Nightshade. Belladonna toxicity or overdose can lead to increased heart rate and body temperature, constipation, dry skin and mouth, agitation and hallucinations, according to the FDA. Infants also may become drowsy.

Recalled products are

  • CVS Homeopathic Kids' Ear Relief Liquid 0.85 fluid ounce, UPC 050428441633, lot 33149.

Consumers should stop using the products and contact their physician if they experience any side effects. They can call Raritan Pharmaceuticals with questions at 866-467-2748.

Health care professionals and patients can report adverse side effects to the FDA’s MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program at www.fda.gov/MedWatch/report or by calling 800-332-1088.
