Approximately 694,000 rocking infant sleepers have been recalled, the second such product to be pulled from shelves this month following infant deaths.
Customers should stop using all models of the Kids II Rocking Sleepers and can contact the company for a refund or voucher, according to a notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The products, which hit the market in 2012, are sold at major retailers nationwide. However, five infants have died while using them. Some of the infants rolled from their back to their stomach while unrestrained.
The recall comes just two weeks after Fisher-Price recalled the Rock ‘n Play, following 32 deaths first brought to light by Consumer Reports. Citing that investigation, the AAP called for the CPSC to pull the product from shelves and urged parents to stop using it.
Consumers can contact Kids II for a refund at 866-869-7954 or visit https://www.kids2.com/recalls.html. They also should report incidents to SaferProducts.gov.
The AAP does not recommend letting infants sleep in inclined products like the Rock ’n Play or Rocking Sleeper that require restraining a baby. AAP policy calls for infants to sleep on their back, on a separate, flat and firm sleep surface without any bumpers, bedding or stuffed toys.
