Editor's note: The 2018 AAP National Conference & Exhibition will take place from Nov. 2-6 in Orlando.

Today’s plenary session will feature Lizzie Velasquez, an activist, motivational speaker and author who was born with neonatal progeroid syndrome, which prevents her from accumulating body fat and gaining weight, among other symptoms. Her condition resulted in bullying from an early age, including being labeled as the “World’s Ugliest Woman” in a video posted when she was 17.

Velasquez turned this negative act into positive action by creating an anti-bullying movement. She continues to be an inspiration, spreading messages of acceptance, kindness and love.

Velasquez will deliver an inspiring talk titled “Finding My Voice” from 10:45-11:05 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, in the Valencia Ballroom of the convention center.
