The World Health Organization (WHO) is calling for all-hands-on-deck participation in a survey that will identify gaps in hand hygiene and infection prevention and control. The results will be used to implement improvements in a concrete, measurable way.
The voluntary survey is open through May 16 to any acute health care facility worldwide. To participate, complete the two parts of the anonymous, validated self-assessment survey. After submitting results, you will receive a score, information on strengths and gaps, and tools to plan for improvement. The tool can be used annually to assess change.
Hand hygiene surveys were conducted in 2011 and 2015. A meta-analysis showed improved compliance and reduced infections in the U.S. after implementation.
The survey supports goals of the Save Lives: Clean Your Hands Global Campaign, May 5. For health care providers, the theme is “Champion clean care: it’s in your hands.” Visit http://bit.ly/WHOSurveyAAPFYI.
