The AAP has developed a COVID-19 toolkit (http://bit.ly/AAPcovidvaccinekit) to help pediatricians boost efforts to get children ages 12 and older vaccinated.
The toolkit and other resources are part of a vaccine confidence campaign that includes national television and radio public service announcements, shareable social media content and animated science explainers.
Public service announcements have been distributed nationwide, particularly in areas of the country with high rates of vaccine hesitancy. The goal is to reach parents who have not yet vaccinated their eligible children — and to encourage them to talk with a pediatrician about their questions and reservations.
Videos feature experts discussing topics important to parents such as making the decision to have their child vaccinated, possible vaccine side effects and the impact of COVID-19 infections and the pandemic on children. Pediatricians can show the videos in their waiting rooms or post them on practice websites and social media networks. Images also are available in sizes appropriate for posting on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Check back often as messages will be added to help pediatricians communicate with families about the science behind the vaccines, so they can make informed decisions about protecting their children from COVID-19.
