The AAP is accepting applications for the Russell Libby, M.D., FAAP Fellowship in Pediatric Practice and Payment Transformation. Through a generous gift from Dr. Libby, the Academy will make a significant investment in the development of a focused strategy to inform policy, education and advocacy for value-based care for pediatric practice.
The Academy is advancing efforts to improve and innovate pediatric practice and to create value and quality care payment strategies that recognize the unique value of pediatric practice and to promote the health and well-being of all children.
The Libby Fellow will work with AAP staff and members to:
- identify ways to address challenges to value-based care and payment;
- innovate and advocate for public and private funding to support, transform and sustain pediatric practice;
- leverage the Academy’s Child Health Improvement through Longitudinal Data (CHILD) registry, quality initiatives and payer advocacy efforts to create a unified sustainable approach to practice transformation and modernization; and
- identify opportunities for interventions to reduce the impact of adverse childhood experiences and other ameliorable factors contributing to chronic disease to reduce incidence, morbidity and cost of care.
This part-time, paid fellowship will be housed within the AAP Department of Primary Care and Subspecialty Pediatrics. Ideal candidates should possess a medical degree, residency training and/or fellowship training, and board certification in general pediatrics or a pediatric medical or surgical subspecialty. A master’s degree in public policy, business administration, public health or health care financing is preferred.
