Health Alerts: Baby monitors, helmets, highchairs and more recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. Consumers can submit reports of harm to the CPSC’s searchable online product safety database at www.SaferProducts.gov. A searchable food and medical product recall database is available at www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/default.htm.

Toddler towers

The Simplay3 Co. is recalling 108,450 Simplay3 Toddler Towers because the towers can tip over and children can fall. The toddler towers were sold online by Simplay3, Amazon, Target, Walmart and other online stores and at Buttercup Baby Store, Fun Stuff, Midstates and other toy stores from November 2018 to June 2023 for about $90. Children’s jeans

The Children’s Place is recalling 97,400 sets of baby and toddler boy basic stretch straight leg jeans because the metal snaps on the garments can detach and children can choke. The jeans were sold at The Children’s Place stores nationwide from September 2022 to March 2023 (style number 3022341) and from January to June 2023 (style number 3022342) for about $25. High chairs

TOMY is recalling 83,000 Boon Flair and Flair Elite high chairs because the bolts securing the seat to the base can loosen and children can fall. The high chairs were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Toys “R” Us and other stores nationwide and online by Amazon, Target, Walmart and Bed Bath & Beyond. The Flair Elite high chairs were sold from 2008 to 2009, and the Flair high chairs were sold from January 2008 to February 2017 for $230 to $380. Baby monitors

Philips Avent is recalling 12,850 digital video baby monitors because the lithium-ion batteries in the parent unit can overheat and cause burns. The monitors were sold online by Toys “R” Us, Amazon, Walmart and other retailers from March 2016 to January 2020 for $120 to $200. Electric scooters

Apollos is recalling 3,900 Phantom electric scooters because the belt on the scooter can come loose and riders can fall. The scooters were sold at apolloscooters.com, fluidfreeride.com, justride.com, adventuresportsusa.com and allelectricmotion.com from June 2021 to May 2023 for $2,000 to $2,500. Convertible bed frames

Zipadee Kids is recalling 7,450 convertible house bed frames and Montessori floor beds because the spindles used on the frame are spaced too far apart and children can become trapped. Children also could slip through the rail opening and become trapped. The beds were sold online and on Zipadee’s etsy.com shop from February 2018 to September 2021 for $260 to $900. Candles

Target is recalling 2.2 million Threshold glass jar candles because the jar can crack or break and cause cuts or burns. The candles were sold at Target stores and online from February 2020 to July 2023 for $3 to $12. Call 800-440-0680 or visit https://bit.ly/45NFcRD for a refund.



Bug spray

Maggie’s Farm is recalling 14,500 cans of 14-ounce aerosol Bed Bug and Flea Killer because the pressurized cans can rupture and cause injuries or cuts. The cans with UPC: 811249020540 and Lot #: 0101325 were sold at Meijer, Big Y, Stop & Shop, Woodman’s and online by Walmart and Amazon for $6 to $12. Sodium hydroxide

Midwest Lubricants is recalling 3,000 bottles of sodium hydroxide because the packaging is not child resistant and children can ingest or become burned by the product. The sodium hydroxide was sold online by Midwest Lubricants and Amazon from January 2020 to June 2023 for about $44. Call 833-791-7335 for replacement packaging.

Potassium and sodium hydroxide

Chemboys is recalling 200 DIYChemicals: Potassium Hydroxide/KOH Flakes and Sodium Hydroxide because the packaging is not child resistant and children can be burned by the product. The product was sold online by DIYChemicals, Amazon and Ebay from May 2021 to March 2023 for $10 to $85. Call 888-246-2697 or email [email protected] for replacement packaging.


Bike helmets

Ecnup is recalling 215 kids bike helmets because they do not meet federal safety standards and can fail to prevent head injuries. The helmets were sold by Amazon from January 2022 to February 2023 for $20 to $30. Email [email protected] or use the Amazon message portal for a refund.

Crib mattresses

Restwell Mattress is recalling 100 Room & Board natural organic latex and latex and spring crib mattresses because they do not meet federal safety standards and children can suffocate. Model number 847564 and 925869 mattresses were sold at Room & Board stores and online from August 2022 to June 2023 for $350 to $450. Call 800-301-9720 or email [email protected] for a refund.
