Indexing platform will amplify Hospital Pediatrics’ research

October 1, 2024

Hospital Pediatrics has been accepted for indexing in Web of Science, a database platform that includes academic journals and similar documents from across the academic spectrum.

Inclusion in Web of Science will increase the visibility and impact of research published in the AAP journal as well as the number of manuscript submissions. It also means Hospital Pediatrics will receive an impact factor score, a metric that is among quantitative tools used to rank, evaluate and compare journals. The impact factor, created by Clarivate Analytics, measures how often the “average article” in a journal has been cited over a particular period of time.

“This designation means we are included in all citation trackers and illustrates the tremendous growth of the journal and field,” said Patrick W. Brady, M.D., M.Sc., FAAP, editor in chief of Hospital Pediatrics.

The AAP established Hospital Pediatrics in 2011, making it the first journal specific to pediatric hospital medicine. Articles published after 2022 will be included in Web of Science’s Emerging Sources Citation Index, which highlights research from peer-reviewed publications both international and regional in scope, according to Clarivate.

“We are so proud of how the growth of the journal has amplified and mirrored the growth of pediatric hospital medicine,” Dr. Brady said. “We continue to publish better and more impactful science each year.”
