Andrew D. Racine, M.D., Ph.D., FAAP, of the Bronx, N.Y., has been voted AAP president-elect and will serve as the Academy’s president in 2026.
He will follow Susan J. Kressly, M.D., FAAP, of Sanibel Island, Fla., who will serve as president in 2025. Dr. Racine ran against Lily J. Lou, M.D., FAAP, of Palos Park, Ill.
“I am extremely humbled to have been selected by the members of the AAP to represent our organization as president-elect,” Dr. Racine said. “My gratitude goes to National Nominating Committee members and chair Dr. Rebecca Bell for the care and attention they devoted to the campaign, and I am especially grateful for the opportunity to have gotten to know the extraordinary Dr. Lou, who shared this process with me.”
Dr. Racine is system senior vice president and chief medical officer, Montefiore Health System, Bronx, N.Y., and executive director, Montefiore Medical Group, Bronx, N.Y.
“To be afforded the chance to advance the mission of the AAP in concert with CEO/Executive Vice President Mark Del Monte, J.D., the AAP staff and the Board of Directors is an unparalleled honor,” Dr. Racine said. “The children of this country and the professionals who care for them have always been and will always be our chief priority. In total, 10.4% of eligible members voted in the 2024 election compared to 13.5% in 2023.
