Robert D. Gross, M.D., M.B.A., FAAP, of Plano, Texas, received the Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Ophthalmological Association at its 2024 annual meeting.
Dr. Gross is an adjunct professor of ophthalmology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.
Sara H. Lee, M.D., FAAP, of Pepper Pike, Ohio, was named director of medical education, designated institutional official and vice chair of education for the Department of Pediatrics at Akron Children’s Hospital, where she will oversee all aspects of medical education for 1,300 medical staff.
Dr. Lee previously served as assistant vice president and chief health officer at Case Western Reserve University.
James M. Perrin, M.D., FAAP, of Brookline, Mass., was awarded the Title V Lifetime Achievement Award from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of the Health Resources and Services Administration. The award recognizes an individual for outstanding contributions made to the field of maternal and child health over a sustained period.
Dr. Perrin is a past president of the AAP (2014), a professor emeritus of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and former director of the Division of General Pediatrics at the Mass General for Children hospital. He holds the John C. Robinson Chair in Pediatrics at Mass General.
Nancy D. Spector, M.D., FAAP, Wynnewood, Pa., received the 2025 WMC/MCP Phyllis Marciano, M.D., Woman in Medicine Award from the Trust Fund of the Alumnae/i Association of WMC/MCP of the Drexel University College of Medicine. The award is given annually to a female physician scientist or staff member in recognition of leadership, teaching of students, care of patients and status as a role model for women in medicine.
Dr. Spector is a professor of pediatrics; the Betty A. Cohen Chair in Women’s Health; executive director of the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine program, the Executive Leadership in Health Care program and the Lynn Yeakel Institute for Women’s Health and Leadership; and senior vice dean for faculty at the College of Medicine at Drexel University.
Josiah B. Ward, D.O., FAAP, of San Angelo, Texas, was named chief medical officer of La Esperanza Clinic.
Dr. Ward served seven years as a physician with the United States Air Force, where he also was the medical director of the Child Development Center at Goodfellow Air Force Base.
Eric A. Williams, M.D., M.S., FAAP, of Cincinnati, was named chief quality officer and vice president of the James M. Anderson Center for Health Systems Excellence at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Williams joined Cincinnati Children’s in 2023 as chief patient outcomes officer and associate chief quality officer within the Anderson Center. He also is a professor in the Division of Critical Care within the University of Cincinnati’s Department of Pediatrics.
