Make history and vote for the first three individuals who will serve in the new AAP Board of Directors at-large positions.
“The addition of three at-large board chairs who would bring additional experiences as medical subspecialists, surgical specialists and specialty fellows is important for the AAP. Their voices will add immense value as the AAP continues working to ensure that the needs of all children and families are met,” said AAP President Kyle E. Yasuda, M.D., FAAP.
Members approved bylaws referendum changes in 2018 that included the addition of the three new board positions. After a call for nominations, the National Nominating Committee selected six candidates for the 2019 election. Voting begins Sept. 7 and ends Sept. 21. Terms begin Jan. 1, 2020.
Voters will choose one candidate to represent pediatric medical subspecialists: Wayne H. Franklin, M.D., M.P.H., M.M.M., FACC, FAAP, of Oak Park, Ill., or Charles G. Macias, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, of Houston.
Voters will choose one candidate to represent pediatric surgical specialists: William L. Hennrikus, M.D., FAAP, of Hershey, Pa., or Constance S. Houck, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, of Boston.
Voters will choose one candidate to represent at-large fellows or specialty fellows:
Rachel L. Dawkins, M.D., FAAP, of St. Petersburg, Fla., or Joseph L. Wright, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, of Upper Marlboro, Md.
Candidates’ bios and position statements will be published in the August issue of AAP News and at www.aap.org/election.
