The AAP board of directors announced the departure of AAP CEO/Executive Vice President Karen Remley, M.D., M.B.A., M.P.H., FAAP, as her three-year contract concludes.
“On behalf of the entire American Academy of Pediatrics, we thank Dr. Remley for her leadership and accomplishments as CEO/executive vice president and wish her the best in her future work,” said AAP President Colleen A. Kraft, M.D., M.B.A., FAAP. “Dr. Remley led the organization during a critical period, made an important impact on the AAP, and furthered its mission to improve child health.”
The Board of Directors will initiate a national search for a CEO/executive vice president. It has appointed Mark Del Monte, J.D., chief deputy and senior vice president of Advocacy and External Affairs, to lead the Academy in the interim.
“The board has full confidence that the executive team, the pediatrician leaders on staff and all of our member volunteers will work during this transition to advance the mission of the Academy and continue its record of excellence,” Dr. Kraft said.
