Conference attendees will have the opportunity to hear from the two candidates running for 2018 AAP president-elect during Sunday’s plenary session from 10:30-10:45 am in McCormick Place West, Skyline Ballroom. Michael Weiss, DO, FAAP, of Coto de Caza, Calif., and Kyle Yasuda, MD, FAAP, of Seattle, will discuss their vision for children, our profession and our organization.

Michael Weiss, DO, FAAP, graduated from The University of Michigan and attended medical school at The Western University of Health Sciences. He completed his pediatric residency at The Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. He practiced general pediatrics for 22 years and serves as vice president of population health at CHOC Children’s Hospital. He is past president of AAP California Chapter 4. He and his wife have two children and two grandchildren.
Kyle Yasuda, MD, FAAP, is AAP District VIII chairperson, medical officer for Children and Families for Public Health, Seattle and King County, and executive director/president of BestStart Washington, a nonprofit organization focused on the impact of nature on children and families. He has experiences in primary care practice, academics, government, health policy, advocacy and nonprofit organizations. The recipient of many awards, Dr. Yasuda is most proud of the Pediatric Residents’ Mentorship Award from Seattle Children’s Hospital.
