AAP takes awards for design, writing excellence
AAP staff were lauded for producing top-quality, award-winning content.
AAP Grand Rounds was honored with a Silver Award for improved design and content in the Excel Awards competition held by Association Media & Publishing. The award recognized the creative design work of Michael Hayes, AAP production manager, and the AAP editorial team of Joe Puskarz, Kate Larson and Mark Plemmons. Over 800 entries competed for editorial, design, advertising, marketing and publishing awards in the 2018 competition.
News Content Editor Melissa Jenco received the APEX Award for Excellence in Writing in the series category for extensive coverage of the Zika outbreak for AAP News. Since January 2016, she has written 33 articles for AAP News and online. In addition to following the Zika outbreak status and locations affected, Jenco reported on what pediatricians should know about evidence, and recommended care and resources to share with affected families. AAP earns another Best and Brightest award
For the 13th consecutive year, the Academy was recognized as one of the 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in the Chicagoland Area.
The honor recognizes employers for excellence in operations and employee enrichment, human resource practices and commitment to employees. Selection is based on organization feedback and survey responses from staff.
