The Pedi Crisis 2.0 app guides clinicians who are responding to perioperative life-threatening critical events in pediatric patients. Developed by the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia, the app includes guidance for more than two dozen pediatric crises, including cardiac arrest, hypoxia, local anesthetic toxicity and massive hemorrhage.
The app was created using a human factor approach to support use during actual critical events. Clinicians also can use it as a learning tool. Each critical event is organized into the following tabs:
- Dx: diagnosis
- DDx: differential diagnosis
- Tx: treatment
- Drugs: drugs and dosages
- Misc: additional information
- Crisis: additional crisis management information
Users can store information such as institution emergency phone numbers and can enter patient information to support diagnoses and weight-based dosing.
The Pedi Crisis 2.0app is free and is available through the Google Play Store at http://bit.ly/2OnEiIK and the Apple App Store at https://apple.co/2LKpe5G.
