Baby cough syrup has been recalled due to potential contamination with bacteria.

Kingston Pharma, LLC is recalling Lot KL180157 of its 2-ounce bottles of DG/health NATURALS baby Cough Syrup + Mucus. The syrup is for infants 2 months and older and sold in Dollar General stores.

Testing found low levels of Bacillus cereus in about 10% of bottles and Bacillus circulans in about 20%, according to a news release from the manufacturer.

The bacteria can cause gastrointestinal illness, especially in young children. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled syrup.

Kingston has suspended production of the syrup and is investigating along with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Customers can return the recalled syrup to the store where they purchased it for a refund. They can direct questions to the company at 844-724-7347 or [email protected]. They also can report adverse events to the FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program at www.fda.gov/medwatch/report.htm.

Last month, Kingston recalled its DG Baby Gripe Water due to an undissolved ingredient.
