Census Day was April 1. Pediatricians should remind families that they still have time to complete the census. It can be filled out online, by phone and by mail.
For families who need language assistance, the Census Bureau provides web pages and guides in 59 non-English languages, including American Sign Language. Guides also are available in braille and large print. Visit https://bit.ly/35IpVnn.
This summer, census takers will begin interviewing people in homes that have not responded.
The census is important for children. Data inform decisions about federal funding for programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, Medicaid and Head Start.
