Dennis R. Durbin, M.D., M.S.C.E., FAAP, of Jenkintown, Pa., received the FOCUS Award for the Advancement of Women in Medicine from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Durbin is director of clinical and translational research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute. In 2007, he established the Joanne Decker Memorial Work/Family Mentoring Award in memory of his late wife Joanne Decker, M.D., FAAP. The award supports faculty members who serve as role models for work-life balance.
An epidemiologist, Dr. Durbin focuses his research on preventing motor vehicle occupant injuries to children and teen driver crashes. He is a member of the AAP Council on Injury, Violence and Poison Prevention and Section on Emergency Medicine.
Docia E. Hickey, M.D., of Charlotte, N.C., was named president of the North Carolina Medical Society. Retired for two years, she most recently was a neonatologist at Carolinas Medical Center.
Dr. RathoreMobeen H. Rathore, M.D., FAAP, of Jacksonville, Fla., received the Clyde Collins, M.D., Humanitarian Award from the Duval County Medical Society for exemplary volunteer efforts within the community.
Professor and director of the University of Florida Center for HIV/AIDS Research, Education & Service, he is chief of pediatric infectious diseases and immunology at Wolfson Children’s Hospital.
A member of the AAP Committee on Infectious Diseases and consulting member of the Committee on Pediatric AIDS, Dr. Rathore is immediate past president of the Florida Chapter.
Stan G. Schooler, M.D., FAAP, of Floyds Knobs, Ind., was named the 2015 Team Physician of the Year by the Indiana State Medical Association.
Dr. Schooler is an emergency department physician at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services and a sports medicine physician at Floyd Memorial Physical Therapy. He has been a volunteer team doctor at the local high school for the past 25 years.
Dr. Schooler is a member of the AAP Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness.
