Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System codes G9966 and G9967 are performance measurement codes.

These codes are reported to payers who use performance tracking codes and claims data to track the number or percentage of children with health plan coverage who received recommended screening for developmental, behavioral, and social delays. Generally, performance measurement codes are not directly tied to payment but may support a physician’s successful participation in quality initiatives and any associated financial benefits. Alternatively, many payers may accept Current Procedural Terminology® code 96110 (developmental screening [eg, developmental milestone survey, speech and language delay screen], with scoring and documentation, per standardized instrument) to indicate developmental screening was performed. Follow payer guidelines for reporting performance measurement codes for patients who are within the associated denominator for each measure. Specific diagnosis codes may also be required for some measures (eg, Z13.4, encounter for screening for certain developmental disorders in childhood)....
