The 2008 changes to Current Procedural Terminology (CPT©) are effective for reporting services provided on or after January 1, 2008. Changes include many new codes and revisions of some evaluation and management (E/M) codes, medicine codes, modifiers, and Category II (performance measures) codes. CPT 2008 includes a new section that includes non–face-to-face physician services. The code revisions, code deletions, and new codes outlined in this article include services most often performed and reported by pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists. Changes or revisions to existing codes or instructions are underlined; any text with a strikethrough indicates deletions; new CPT codes are identified with a circle (); and revised codes are identified with a triangle ().
