Following are the requirements for reporting Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) Category II codes for major depressive disorder (MDD) in a child or an adolescent. The use of CPT Category II codes is summarized in “New Pediatric Category II Codes: Pay-for-Performance Measures” in the February 2011 issue of AAP Pediatric Coding Newsletter™ (Vol 6, No. 5).

The following measures are applicable for reporting care to all patients aged 6 through 17 years with a diagnosis of MDD. CPT Category II modifier descriptions are noted following the Table.
