New codes and guidelines were developed to report non–face-to-face supervision of emergency transport care for critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients. Codes 99466–99467 were revised in conjunction with the CPT aim of being provider neutral in code descriptors except where necessary to align with policies of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and private payers.

(For physician direction of emergency medical systems supervision for a pediatric patient older than 24 months of age, or at any age if not critically ill or injured, use 99288)

(Do not report 99485, 99486 with any other services reported by the control physician for the same period)
