Pediatricians offer patients many services related to sports. From prevention of injuries and health risks to management of sports injuries, a good deal of time, expertise, and work is involved. Proper coding for diagnoses and services rendered are key to receiving payment for this work.

John, a 13-year-old established patient, is seen in the office after he experienced dizziness and nausea during football practice. The symptoms occurred after 2 hours of practice when the temperature was about 94°F, and several teammates had similar symptoms.
