What procedure codes will be used to report influenza vaccine products administered to children younger than 18 years in the 2013–2014 influenza season? If our practice offers a new quadrivalent vaccine, what code is reported?

Current Procedural Terminology codes for vaccine products recommended for patients younger than 18 years are listed as follows. Codes included are based on recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices in February 2013 as published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Immunization administration codes (90460–90461 or 90471–90474) should be reported in addition to vaccine product codes as appropriate. Diagnosis codes V20.2, well-child visit, and V04.81, need for prophylactic vaccination against influenza, remain valid for the 2013–2014 influenza season. For Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System codes, see Q2035, Q2037, and Q2038.
