Certain conditions originating in the perinatal period are reported with codes beginning with the letter P in International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM); these codes are found in Chapter 16 of the ICD-10-CM tabular list. Guidelines for reporting conditions found in ICD-10-CM Chapter 16 are similar to those in Chapter 15 of International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM). However, there are a few substantial differences. The Table provides a comparison of the guidelines.
