The American Medical Association published errata for Current Procedural Terminology® 2014 on March 3, 2014, that included a technical correction to the prefatory language for neonatal and pediatric critical care services.

The minor correction is intended to clarify appropriate reporting for services provided subsequent to initial services on the same day or during the same stay. Previous instructions for reporting neonatal critical care services emphasized readmission to the neonatal critical care unit on the same day, whereas instructions for pediatric critical care emphasized readmission to pediatric critical care during the same stay. The corrected prefatory language instructs that each initial care service is reported only once per hospital stay whether readmission is on the same day or during the same stay.

The correction is shown as follows using underlined text to indicate the changes. Italic font indicates that the section of text has remained unchanged and is provided here...
