The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) was recently recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) Editorial Panel for its work on coding and coding education. The AAP was awarded the 2019 CPT Educational Excellence Award at the February 2019 CPT Editorial Panel meeting, at which the AMA noted the history of the AAP commitment, creativity, and effectiveness in providing coding education to its diverse membership of primary care and specialty physicians. This is the second time the AAP received the award; the first was in 2012.

David M. Kanter, MD, MBA, CPC, FAAP, the AAP CPT alternate advisor and future CPT Editorial Panel member, and Teri Salus, MPA, CPC, CPEDC, AAP staff to CPT, accepted the award on behalf of the AAP.
