Rachel Moon, MD, FAAPDr Rachel Moon is the Harrison Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics and the division head of general pediatrics at UVA Health. She attended Emory University for her undergraduate and medical degrees, and completed her pediatrics residency at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Before joining UVA in 2015, Moon spent two decades working as a pediatrician and in various leadership roles at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Her research interests include understanding parent decision-making in infant care, and evaluating messaging strategies that can positively impact those decisions. In addition to her clinical and research duties, Moon is the chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Task Force on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). She is an associate editor of the AAP journal Pediatrics.
