Older Adult: High-Risk Medication:
Beers Criteria: Oxaprozin is identified in the Beers Criteria as a potentially inappropriate medication to be avoided for chronic use in patients 65 years and older (unless alternative agents ineffective and patient can receive concomitant gastroprotective agent) due to increased risk of GI bleeding and peptic ulcer disease in older adults in high risk category (eg, older than 75 years of age or receiving concomitant oral/parenteral corticosteroids, anticoagulants, or antiplatelet agents) (Beers Criteria [AGS 2019]).
