The sixth edition of Wintrobe's Clinical Hematology, as all of the preceding editions, remains the "bible" of this specialty. The book reflects the author's more than 30 years of clinical preeminence and so has great practical value in the management of hematologic diseases. It also presents so definitive an evaluation of the literature that it can serve as a prime reference for the physiologic and pathologic mechanisms underlying hematologic disorders.

Despite its general excellence, there are references from earlier editions which could have been eliminated.
