The clinical and laboratory findings reported by Blau et al. (Pediatrics 60:227, August 1977) of polyarteritis nodosa (PAN) in older children are similar to those found in seven older children with PAN in Dallas.1 Six of these seven children had a preceding throat or ear infection. Antistreptolysin-O titers were obtained in five and all were elevated to a minimum of 500 Todd units. Thus in these two series all 14 patients who were tested had elevated antistreptococcal antibodies.
