Do you know the difference between Pediatrics in Review (PIR) and the Self-Assessment parts of PREP? Together they cover almost all of the content specifications for a given year. The PREP program is linked with the recertification examinations of the American Board of Pediatrics. Most of the content specifications that are used to create the examination in a particular year are covered in the 4 prior years either by material printed in PIR or by questions and critiques in the Self-Assessment Exercise. (NOTE: These are not the quiz questions at the end of PIRarticles; they are contained in a separate booklet.) Both are indexed in the December issues of PIR for that year and the previous three.
