  • Endocarditis:

    Inflammation of the valvular or mural endocardium, whether from an infection or from a noninfectious inflammatory process

  • Infective endocarditis:

    Endocarditis caused by microorganisms (bacteria or fungi) involving either the heart or the great vessels (ie, endarteritis); the pathology also may include abscess formation

  • Mycotic aneurysm:

    A term applied to fungal or bacterial infection within the wall of a vessel

  • Mycotic endocarditis:

    Endocarditis caused by fungus
